Me and Mine: A Family Project 2016: December
And just like that Christmas and indeed December is over for another year. As usual in this house it was crazy and hectic, but fun all the same, and I now can’t believe that 2017 is nearly upon us. 2016 has been such an incredible year for our family, with of course it all being centered around the arrival of our baby boy in April. I look back on photos of us last christmas or at the beginning of the year and I find it surreal to see four people in the image. I now couldn’t imagine life without him and he has slotted in like he has never not been here.
The last couple of months of this year have been rather hectic here. I have struggled with a work/life balance and a lack of routine from our little boy. It has meant that the things I enjoy on my blog, like taking photos just for the fun of it, or writing posts I enjoy have taken a bit of a back seat. I even missed my first ever Me and Mine in four years in November, although I am going to cheat and say that a photo I took in November of us all can count towards it. Technically therefore I haven’t missed a family photo. I am looking forward to getting some more routine in our lives for 2017, so I can get back to enjoying my blog and taking lots more photos.
I left our December photo till the last minute again, I wanted to take a few by the tree on christmas morning, but to be honest when the time came it all just felt a little too much like an effort. Christmas was a busy, chaotic and hectic affair and as such I didn’t really take a single photo over the festive period, bar a couple with my iPhone- that is totally unlike me!
As we speak we are currently on a rather exciting adventure. We are high up in the mountains, in the beautiful French resort of Les Gets, having our first ever family ski holiday with Ski Famille. We only arrived yesterday after a 4am start but we have already settled into our chalet and we are so excited to experience this trip. We have never done anything like this before, from the chalet style of holiday, living in a chalet with hosts, a chef and four other families, to actually skiing itself, and I am besides myself with excitement about being here. The Alps are currently going through a bit of a snow drought, but there are a few runs open and more than enough to walk about and enjoy it. It’s lovely and cold, but the sun is also shining and I can’t wait to go for long walks in the mountains, it’s been less than 24 hours and I already feel so incredibly relaxed- more relaxed than I have felt in a long time.
We took these photos quickly yesterday. We were having a walk around Les Gets and having a look at one of the lower slopes, and the light was going so we quickly snapped these on my phone. We even got a passer by to take a photo which never happens as normally I like to do it with my tripod. They aren’t the best but they will be so lovely to look back on in years to come.
And just like that there is another 12 months of family photos. I still am so thankful for this project and the fact that I have so many photos of us documented over time. I can’t wait to see what happens to our little family in 2017, I’m not sure that it will top 2016 but I am determined to give it a good go!
